The 2017 Yamaha is a competition-derived off-road machine, built around the 450cc liquid-cooled single with the reverse cylinder head that gives it strong power and consistent torque. Compact aluminium chassis, KYB suspension and a wide-ratio five-speed gearbox, the same package that makes these so capable in the rough.

Recent work includes a new air filter, oil filter, spark plug and rocker cover gasket.

Being honest about this one: it starts and runs, but it will occasionally cut out once hot. We took it in part exchange and off-road machinery is not our speciality, so rather than throw money at something outside our area we have priced it well below what a sorted example brings. For someone who knows these engines it is likely a straightforward diagnosis and a cheap fix, and the buyer keeps the difference.
