This 2015 Yamaha MT-09 is the bike that made the middleweight naked class exciting again. The 847cc liquid-cooled inline triple produces 115 bhp and 64 lb-ft of torque, with the crossplane-concept firing order giving it a character all of its own, part twin, part four, and a hard-edged howl as it revs out. Torque arrives everywhere, so it will lift the front wheel on the throttle in the lower gears and still pull cleanly from walking pace in top.
Weight is what makes it work. At 188kg wet it is lighter than almost anything with this much power, and combined with an 815mm seat and wide bars it changes direction instantly. Suspension is a 41mm inverted fork adjustable for preload and rebound with a preload and rebound adjustable rear shock. This MT09 features Akrapovic exhaust, radiator guard, adjustable levers, NCS bar end mirrors, comfort seat, paddock stand bobbins, R&G tail tidy, two keys including red key, owners manual and service book with three stamps in the book.
