This 2017 Kawasaki Z900 is one of the best all-round nakeds of the last decade, built around a 948cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline four producing 125 bhp at 9,500rpm and 99Nm of torque. It's smooth and easy to use around town, but above 6,000rpm the acoustically tuned airbox lets it howl the way a proper streetfighter should, pulling hard all the way to the 11,000rpm redline through a slick six-speed box.
The lightweight high-tensile steel trellis frame keeps it at just 210kg wet, and combined with a 1,450mm wheelbase and low 795mm seat height it feels genuinely agile — happy filtering through traffic and properly quick on a twisty B-road. Suspension is a 41mm inverted fork and horizontal back-link rear shock, both adjustable for preload and rebound so you can dial in the ride to suit your weight.
Braking comes from twin 300mm semi-floating petal discs with four-piston calipers and a 250mm rear, all backed by ABS. The 17-litre tank gives sensible touring range.
Visually it's still a head-turner — exposed trellis frame, that compact inline four on full display, pinstriped wheels, petal rotors and a low aggressive stance.
