This Ducati Hypermotard 950 is the definitive supermoto hooligan — a bike built almost entirely around fun, with an idiosyncratic ride that rewards proper motard technique: brake hard, scrub off speed at the apex and fire out on that huge wave of grunt.
At its heart is the 937cc Testastretta L-twin, revised over the outgoing 939 with new pistons, a higher compression ratio, new cam profiling and larger 53mm throttle bodies for a 4 bhp bump. But it's how it makes its power that matters — Ducati claim 82% of torque is on tap at just 3,000rpm, so it feels alive and instantly responsive right off the bottom, punchy enough that you rarely need to chase the top end. Anti-wheelie is genuinely welcome, because ridden hard it would loop otherwise.
The chassis got a proper diet, shedding over 4kg via thinner trellis frame tubing and magnesium engine cases, and it corners better and feels less awkward mid-corner than before. Softer suspension with new aluminium fork tubes and improved ergonomics make it a sweet-handling thing at real-world speeds.
