The Ducati 848 is much more than just a scaled-down version of the 1098. It's a lovely, well-handled, Ducati superbike that can reach a top speed of 166 mph. With the exception of somewhat less-specified but still completely adjustable Showa forks and Brembo radial brakes, the Ducati 848's chassis is nearly identical to that of the 1098. The 849cc V-twin Testastretta (Italian for "narrow head") liquid-cooled Desmodromic engine was created especially for the Ducati 848; it's not merely a scaled-down, less expensive version of the 1098's motor, The Ducati 848's engine produces a whopping 122 horsepower and 66 pound-feet of torque at the back wheel. Its power delivery is incredibly linear and smooth, as well as incredibly smooth.
