Suzuki shook things up with their 2011 GSX-R750, departing from their usual gradual evolution of the model. With a fully-fueled weight of 190kg, the new version is a significant 8kg lighter than its predecessor, boasting an impressive power-to-weight ratio for its claimed 148bhp.
While the 750's bodywork and rolling chassis are brand new, it doesn't receive the radical engine overhaul that the GSX-R600 underwent, resulting in just a 1kg weight reduction. Nevertheless, the motor has undergone minor adjustments for improved breathing and enhanced low and midrange power, with Suzuki claiming a 10% increase in fuel efficiency.
With its lighter weight, the GSX-R750 has retained its excellent balance of power and handling, but now offers acceleration more akin to a superbike than a 600. Although it lacks the close-ratio gearbox of the 600, it's still highly capable on the track and more relaxed on the road.
